Warps N’ Wraps
Warps N’ Wraps: 8-Bit Inspired Music for an Indie Space Game
I worked on this time management game during Castle Game Jam 2016. The concept was honestly brilliant: you’re running a food truck, but in deep space. To make the kitchen feel alive, I decided to build a “Space Radio” system with three different themes that the player can switch between during gameplay.
Even though I used a lot of 8-bit game music influences here, it’s not strictly chiptune—I wanted a slightly more modern take on that retro game sound. It’s a fun example of how adaptive music can be used to give players a bit of control over the vibe of the game while they’re flipping space burgers.
The game can be played here. If you dig that retro sound design and space-radio aesthetic, give it a go!
