Adaptive Audio Systems: Global Game Jam 2021

For this jam project, the lead developer needed atmospheric music that felt seamless. Knowing that looping audio without glitches can be a challenge, I built a custom Unity package that allows developers to simply drag a prefab into the hierarchy. This system manages multiple layers of adaptive music, enabling smooth volume transitions and real-time layering.

To make the world feel organic, I programmed semi-random triggers for ambient sounds like crows and crickets, ensuring the soundscape is never exactly the same twice. I also integrated a custom procedural footstep player that adjusts the samples based on the character’s movement speed.

I am currently refining this package for the Unity Asset Store to help other indie developers implement professional, interactive audio with minimal friction. Check out the gameplay video below to hear the system in action!
