DragonFury: 8-Bit Arcade Music for a Retro Side-Scroller
This project came out of a 2015 hackathon in Tel Aviv held by DragonPlay (now SciPlay). For those unfamiliar, a hackathon is a high-pressure sprint where developers collaborate to build a product in a very short window. Our goal was a multiplayer mobile game for Android and iOS.
The game was a homage to the “Kung Fury” aesthetic—a classic side-scroller in the vein of “Double Dragon.” I decided to lean into that retro game sound, creating 8-bit themes that were intentionally “spastic” and high-energy to match the frantic arcade vibe.
While the game didn’t fully launch due to server-side multiplayer hurdles, it was a massive learning experience for me. I used the time to sharpen my C# programming skills and dive deeper into 8-bit sound design. You can check out the two main themes below!
Technical Roles: Music Composition, 8-Bit Sound Design, C# Programming (Unity).
