Casual Connect TLV Panel
Casual Connect TLV: The “Same but Different” Audio Experiment
In 2016, I joined an expert panel at Casual Connect TLV to explore a fascinating question: How much can a soundtrack change a game? Joined by colleagues Alon Kaplan, Niv Golan, and Arnold Nesis, we each composed a unique score for the game Aether. The results were a masterclass in the power of musical perspective—four completely different pieces that all resonated with the gameplay in distinct ways.
My contribution to the project was a hybrid score that combined live drums with electronic synthesis. I wanted to capture the fast-paced, chaotic momentum of the game while leaning into its vibrant, cartoony aesthetic. By blending organic percussion with synthetic textures, the music underscores both the physical energy and the whimsical tone of the world.
The Expert Panel
The session was hosted by Tsahi Liberman and provides deep insights into the decision-making process of a game composer. It’s a great resource for anyone interested in how adaptive music for games and creative scoring can redefine a player’s journey.
