Caribbean Game Demo: LucasArts-Inspired Point and Click Music
One of the best parts of game developer conferences is the chance to meet people from completely different backgrounds. At one event, I bumped into an indie developer who was heavily influenced by the old LucasArts point-and-click classics—specifically *Monkey Island*. As a massive fan of Michael Land’s legendary game soundtracks, I was immediately hooked.
Even though he was already working with a talented musician, I couldn’t resist the urge to show him my take on that iconic adventure game music vibe. I went home and recorded every instrument right in my living room to get that raw, organic feel. It was an exercise in capturing the spirit of a Caribbean game soundtrack using live instrumentation.
The developer stuck with his original team, but I’m still really proud of how this demo turned out. It’s a tribute to the games that made me fall in love with music for games in the first place. Listen and judge for yourselves!
